The restaurant design draws inspiration from the shamiana, a traditional Indian tent symbolizing hospitality, celebration, and cultural gatherings. At Shamiana, this concept is reinterpreted through architecture, lighting, textures, and storytelling, creating an authentic Indian dining atmosphere in Dubai that blends heritage with modern luxury.
Key Design Elements
Vaulted Ceiling & Atmosphere
A sweeping, vaulted ceiling with smooth plaster curves recalls the canopy of a tent. These fluid lines create a sense of shelter and intimacy, enhancing acoustics and lighting for a refined luxury dining experience in Dubai.
Lighting Design
Oversized lantern-like pendants, sculpted from delicate fabric, float across the ceiling like glowing canopies. They are paired with warm circular LED details that frame the bar and buffet, as well as soft wall sconces punctuating the patterned feature walls. Each table is graced with a marble-topped lamp, casting a golden halo that brings intimacy to the dining setting.
Feature Walls
Custom-crafted panels with intricate geometric and floral motifs pay homage to Indian decorative design. Hidden lighting highlights the relief, adding layers of depth and drama that evolve from day to night.
Materiality & Color Palette
Muted sage green, mustard yellow, warm walnut, and creamy marble define the color palette. Upholstered banquettes curve softly around the edges, while rattan-backed chairs in mustard and wood infuse natural warmth.
